A Fish Story

Definition of Fishing by Wikipedia
Fishing- Fishing is the activity of trying to catch fish. Fish are normally caught in the wild. Techniques for catching fish include hand gathering, spearing, netting, angling and trapping.
The term fishing may be applied to catching other aquatic animals such as molluscs, cephalopods, crustaceans, and echinoderms. The term is not normally applied to catching farmed fish, or to aquatic mammals, such as whales, where the term whaling is more appropriate.
According to FAO statistics, the total number of commercial fishermen and fish farmers is estimated to be 38 million. Fisheries and aquaculture provide direct and indirect employment to over 500 million people.[1] In 2005, the worldwide per capita consumption of fish captured from wild fisheries was 14.4 kilograms, with an additional 7.4 kilograms harvested from fish farms.[2] In addition to providing food, modern fishing is also a recreational pastime.
Laymen’s Definition of Fishing
Fishing – The activity of telling stories of the one that got away, with a cooler by your side, sun in your face, dog chasing seagulls, and baiting a hook continuously.
The term fishing may be applied to asking a loved one when a good time would be to do the long overdue taxes with the accountant (that is a fisherman). Knowing they hate doing the taxes. Informing them that it will take up most of the early morning into the day ensures that they will take the bait and decline the invitation during striper season.
Do you have an obsession for what lies beneath the surface of the water? Is your preference to pack it in with a few friends and sit for hours watching the waves curl? Is it surf fishing or boat fishing you live for? At the end of the day do you have the prize fish up from the deep? Is it posted on Facebook in a flash? Either way you practice your sport the mysterious obsession of what comes up from the deep is exciting.
